I made it to 50. Fait Accompli.
Another bucket-list achievement, something else to be proud of, and justification for the gray on my head.
Pragmatically, I have more years behind me then ahead, yet enough good memories to make the years ahead be filled with gratitude and grace. My soul is filled, my heart full, and my mind, well, that’s another story.
Life is good.
Life is a Lesson.
I met, dated, wooed, engaged, married and yet have a beautiful Wife (inside and out) that I can never ever tell enough. She is forever always my Amazing Grace – *just check page 55 in Gravitate 2 Gratitude by Carolyn Flower (for proof and understanding), and we have many more years together than apart.
I oft say Fiona is the brains of the/our operation, and I do think I’m quite astute in that statement. Most times anyways…
Together, We created 2 awesome sons, Erik and Iain: that are awesome, terrific, and constantly impressing us in their growth, maturity, and character.
Unique in their own personalities, they both have characteristics from us, and their own particular traits that make us laughingly smile, even if I do most of it on the inside (an inherent genetic Roe flaw, apparently).
These are my Loves: My family, my four-legged family, and my friends.
Love that equates loyalty, and loyalty that begets love.
Loves that are followed, and only followed by Passions.
Love is always 1st.
My passions, and oft considered indulgences, have over the years been many and varied, but all have been relished with what I believe – time well invested. Passions that have included arts (writing, drawing, painting and music), photography, some sports (tho most don’t consider fishing a sport), good food, and good cigars. These are passions that I have pursued in between work demands, life responsibilities, and projects that interrupt scheduled programming (that may or not have included some (ahem) health issues). All the while, my Family has been by my side, and Friends at the ready.
This being 50 years that this Soul is celebrating, and even “Bilbo Baggins” recognizes 50 as a unique number (see above, kinda follows my lines of humor as well), I figured the easiest biography (and shortest), is a soulful insight through the music that has made me, well, Me.
Some say that music is a window to the soul, well here I provide you a little more than a glimpse. Sometimes a song is about the words, sometimes the music, sometimes but the mood or rhythm. All of these contain some specific trigger to memories made, and happily I share each of these 50 with you.
I’ve gathered and linked a selection below. They are the charted songs of their years, and all have a special meaning, in one way shape or form.
*(Luckily for me, I have been able to have the good fortune to meet and greet some of this same singers of song, adding to some great memories. I am forever grateful for that.)
Feel free to click and share in my 50 years of musical memories.
Thank you for bearing witness, for sharing in my time, sharing in my passions, being part of this gift I have been given.
These 50 years…
